King of the Road was amazing! I called them ONE day before the last day we had to ship our two cars cross-country after our first company flaked out. They were super responsive, replied right away, and kept me informed the whole time. They discussed what pricing we needed to find a driver fast and we found one within a couple hours. They really helped alleviate a big stressor. The car shipped extremely quickly to our destination, arriving earlier than expected. All interactions with their staff were very positive. Customer service is excellent. Highly recommend.
Excellent Service. Very Professional and courteous. Was greatly surprised and please that Nadia was able to find me a shipping company when I called late Tuesday Afternoon. The Car was Picked up on Wednesday Morning and Delivered Thursday at 1pm. The Driver called me when he was on the road and again when he was one hour away so that I Knew exactly when my car would arrive. The Driver of Handy Trucking company was friendly and respectful and waited for me to examine the condition of the car before getting the check and my signature as my stamp of approval. I will highly recommend this great King Of the Road Transport company and they deserve the top 5 star-Rating in my book and will certainly hire them again in the future
From the very beginning to the very end, King of the Road was informative, easy, and fast. After speaking to Vanessa about setting me up with a driver she went over all of my questions and concerns. Then the driver himself was very professional and ensured me my vehicle was in good hands and actually arrived a day sooner than promised. I am more than pleased with the entire process and would recommend them to a friend or family member. Thank you again.
I’ve used this company twice to ship a classic car. Alex was very helpful! I have been very impressed by their diligence and responsiveness. On both occasions, King of the Road beat every other estimate by more than $200.
We have moved our car, to and from California and Indiana, four times. Communications is the key to success and Claire is simply the best! If you don’t warm-up to her accent, you will be missing a bunch. Great service!
Claire was so amazing and helpful! My first time transporting a car and they found me an awesome driver. Very polite and delivery was the next day from NC to CT! I’m so amazed and glad I chose this company. If you ever need your car transported King of the Road is the best service to use & highly recommended.

The hardest thing for people researching car moving companies to understand is that the prices they are getting are not hard and fast guarantees, but rather estimates of what one company thinks it will take to get a vehicle moved promptly versus another company’s opinion of what it will take.
Don’t be fooled, there are no carriers committed to take your vehicle at these quoted prices. The company you choose will still have to get to work confirming a carrier to commit to move it at the price they quoted you.
No, all dates given are estimates and projections. For this reason we ask that you give us the earliest possible date you would be willing to release the vehicle, even though it may not be your preferred date.
We put you in direct contact with your carrier and the carrier will also typically call you the afternoon or evening before your pickup and delivery. However, carriers are out on the road battling traffic, weather and any number of other factors that can and do throw it off their pickup and delivery projections from time to time.
If the projected dates we give you come and you are unable to make contact with your carrier, please call our office immediately so that we may help resolve the situation.
Officially, no. Not what you wanted to hear, we know, but that is the honest answer.
We are not licensed to broker the shipment of household goods and, likewise, our carriers are not licensed to transport them from state to state. Both parties are licensed to carry just about anything else EXCEPT household goods.
It´s very common that carriers will allow up to 100lbs of items in the trunk or backseat below window level, but the insurance that covers your vehicle does not extend to these items.
That fact is that items of that amount are fairly common and the department of transportation is probably not going to split hairs and fine the trucker over items of that amount, provided they are not over their weight limit. They will fine them if they see a vehicle stuffed full of personal items and the carrier will most likely pass that fine on to you, if they allowed you to leave them in there in the first place, that is.
When dealing with trucks this size, most in excess of 50 ft long and more than 70,000lbs fully loaded, any number of things can affect the time frame, such as: weather, traffic conditions, mechanical issues. Also, when dealing with multiple clients, when 2 or 3 run late, the entire schedule of the driver can be altered. However, coast to coast straight across the states, generally 7-10 days. Coast to Coast diagonally, 8-12 days. Halfway, 5-7 days. Shorter, 3-5 days, usually North to South or South to North is 3-5 days, but can take up to 7 days. Remember, once we confirm the carrier we provide an estimated schedule for pickup and delivery.
This is a great question, and if you ask 10 different companies, you’ll get 10 different answers. There is no “set” amount of necessary lead-time. Whatever you can give is great, but don’t worry if you have to hold off until the last minute, if your move is priced correctly, it will get usually get picked up within a day or two of your first available date.
Of course. Part of what you pay us for is to verify that the carrier we put you on is covered by the requisite amount of insurance and that it is up to date. There is never any additional cost to the customer for this coverage, and their insurance is primary. (And no deductible)
Damage is rare, but unfortunately it does happen. The single most important thing for you to do if your vehicle is damaged is to note the damage on your final bill of lading report when you receive the vehicle.
The bill of lading is the report that the driver will fill out on pickup, denoting if there is any pre-existing damage. Any damage that occurs in transit must be entered on this report on delivery. Failure to do so could seriously hinder your damage claim, so we cannot stress this enough. Look your vehicle over thoroughly when you receive it. The bill of lading is a document that releases the carrier of liability once signed at delivery.
We do both open and enclosed vehicle transport and all various sizes. The majority of cross country moves will be on an 8-10 car carrier, the kind that you see new cars on all of the time. The smaller 2-3 car carriers will tend to do shorter, more “localized” shipments.
Yes, we always ask for your specific pickup and delivery addresses, if the carrier can get right to the addresses you provide, they will. If the addresses that you give us are not safely accessible for a Multi-car carrier, however, you will need to make arrangements with the driver to meet at a nearby location where the carrier can safely get in and out.
The carrier will contact whomever you tell us to contact, whether it is you, a friend, a dealer, etc. There is no “power of attorney” necessary. Someone simply needs to be present on both ends to sign the Bill of Lading, we do not recommend leaving the car unattended as you will not have the necessary verification for your damage insurance coverage if the Bill of Lading is not signed on both ends.
